Today we will talk about the weather :), about the youth and about a move.
Thank you so much for your prayers! God gave us a lot of rain in the last few weeks. We can now use our little hydro-power system again and have enough power; also the people’s gardens are looking great again and producing lots of different foods. We thank God so much. He just knows exactly what we need, and when we need it!
Many of you might remember the year 2008, when after many years of preparation (language and culture study, literacy and starting the Dinangat Bible translation) we finally taught the Dinangat people the Redemption Story of God chronologically from the Creation to the Cross here in the village. That was a very exciting and wonderful time as we watched God build His church here which from then on has continued to learn and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. The teenagers of today were little kids back then, and were not able to understand the story of God. That is why we have now started a Youth Meeting on Sunday afternoons to hear the Redemption Story again. Last Sunday was the launch of this meeting and many young people, along with some older ones who just want to hear it again, came and listened to the beginning of the story (see picture). Please pray for this Youth Meeting that these young people, who are the future of our church here, would get grounded in the Word and stand firm on it.
And about the move… You all know that we as a family have been separated for a year now. Naomi and Rebekka are living in Goroka where they attend Numonohi Christian Academy on the NTM Center, while we (with Mimi) are living here in Dinangat. Every 8-9 weeks we get to see each other for a school break. We have learned lots this last year, especially to lean on the when times get tough and we miss each other. However, there have been too many moments and situations this last year where we as parents felt like we should have been there with Naomi and Rebekka to work through things. Therefore, after much thought and prayer, we have decided to move to Goroka in July for Naomi’s Senior year before she then moves to Germany. While we are in Goroka next school year, we will continue to work on the Bible Translation from there and make trips into Dinangat to keep checking the translation and meeting with the Bible Teachers. We are very happy about this new plan and thank God for knowing exactly what we need and when we need it!
“It was you who opened up springs and streams; you dried up the ever-flowing rivers. The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon.“ Psalm 74:15-16
Yes, it was Him and it is Him who gives us the sun, who gives us the rain when it is the right time for it. He gives us enough power, food, His Word and He also guides us. We can always be secure in His hands, for He knows exactly what we need and when we need it!
