We are so thankful we were able to spend Christmas “at home” in Dinangat as a family and team. Our time there was very encouraging and profitable. While celebrating our Lord’s birth as a team and as the body of Christ we also celebrated some other birthdays, enjoyed fellowship with the believers, worked on the Bible Translation and had a good relaxing time as a family.
Visit in neighboring village T.
You might remember how we shared about the neighboring village T. which listened to some false doctrine and got confused about the true gospel of grace. Ralf and Felix were able to go see that village and were able to talk to the Bible teachers there and some believers (picture above). The great news is that most of them are again standing strong on the Truth but unfortunately there is one guy which was their main Bible Teacher who is still convinced of this other teaching he heard. Please pray for him!
Meeting with leaders
Shortly into our time there the key leaders of the village wanted to meet with us to discuss how they should handle those outside who still are practicing sorcery. They had been asked by other villages if we could work some kind of ritual to rid their villages of these evil practices. One of the men who doesn’t really understand it all wanted to make them give offerings to us and we would perform a certain church service and give our blessing over those outside. However, the stronger believers and 2 elders exhorted one another that only the Word of God and prayer can truly help them. So let’s pray for an opportunity to teach them.
Baptism
The first day of the year started out with 3 girls and a young mother who wanted to get baptized. How wonderful to see those young people (among them Alayna, the daughter of our co-workers, the Markleys) giving their testimony of how they believe in Jesus as their own personal Savior and Lord.
Post Literacy Program
Please pray for the upcoming Post Literacy Program which our co-workers, the Markleys, have been faithfully working on for the last few months. It will start in the beginning of February. This course is to help our believers to work on their reading skills. Many of them can read well, but not well enough to understand what they are reading and to enjoy reading. Please pray for this course, that it will be a great tool for the people to get stronger in their reading skills in order to understand and love the Word of God! Please pray for Jeremiah and April as they are overseeing this course! We are so proud of you, Markleys!
Very thankful for our time in Dinangat. We got back to the Missions Center in town in the middle of January. Thank you so much for all your prayers for us and the the Dinangat church! We are encouraged in this work and very thankful we get to have such a wonderful job!
