Arrival to Florida!

April 4, 2008 by Regina Rodman

We live right on beautiful Lake Monroe. It is fun to go down and read by the water.

THE LONG VERSION if you have time (it’s better with weather updates, and other bug alerts)!

I want to give you a little picture of my trip:

Wednesday: I shed my winter coat in Cincinnati.  It is much warmer here, though only a few hours south of Michigan.

Thursday: In GA near Chattanooga, TN.  Two strange words escaped my mouth: "I’m hot!"  But, this was only because I was sitting in the car with the doors closed and the engine off.  Upon opening the door, the cooler breeze was perfect. It was great weather there in the mountains.

Thursday or Friday: My stuff arrived safely in FL, all boxes accounted for! Thanks for praying.  We got a great deal on shipping through Friends in Action & Estes shipping.

Saturday: South GA. Mosquitoes greeted me before I could get out of the car.  I was so excited about going south that I forgot about the bugs!  God is reminding me to be thankful where I am.  I also discovered that when mosquitoes are squished in Georgia, they squirt blood everywhere.  Eew!  In Michigan, when one squishes a mosquito, it is simply a black bug squished between one’s hands.  Squishing Georgian mosquitoes is most unpleasant.

Monday: I am now getting more accustomed to the heat, though not entirely.

Monday: The most exciting point deserves it’s own heading.
Monday: We arrived!!!!
Monday: We emptied all my boxes and stuff is in a general chaotic, but slightly near its final resting place, state.  I spent my first night in my new place!  Also, a baby lizard about 2 inches long (named Peppo) greeted me in my window (in the house).  It was startling at first, but then I remembered they eat bugs and it was cute too.  THEN – I found a dead cockroach in the cupboard.  It was about the size of a quarter, so I was glad that it was not like the ones I remember from when I was little at my grammas that were 4 inches! And, I’m glad it was dead.

Tuesday: Orientation to Headquarters, misc. info & errands, work meeting to order a Mac tower for my primary job of video work, and general welcoming.  I can’t wait to get to work!
__________________________

The rest of the week we will be settling in and painting one room in my apartment.  This weekend God opened up a place for us on the gulf through some friends so we will be enjoying a few days of rest there.  I will also be meeting a new church that Sunday, so please pray for contacts to go well there.  Sometimes it is difficult for me to converse with new people.

I feel very overwhelmed by God’s blessings to me through the body of Christ.  Thank you for your prayers for me.  It is truly God who gives us the power and works through us.  My presentation in Georgia went really well.  I prayed the night before, and my thoughts came together and I wasn’t too nervous.  I got nervous just before I was supposed to get up, but I thought – I don’t need to be nervous.  I talked to myself (I’m sure you talk to yourself too!) and said these people love me and I’m excited to share about my ministry, so I’m trusting God to give me strength. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.  I was not too nervous up there, though I’m sure I didn’t say everything just right.  God is teaching me to trust Him through the various speaking opportunities I have had.  I keep learning a little more each time.  God is working through me and through your prayers.

Well, Thanks for your time on this.  Also, please pray that we can get paperwork done for the car and painting done for the apartment.  Thanks!  I hope it was not too long!!
