The 4th annual Sports Bible Camp was a great week. Every year, a new record of attendees is set. This year, 75 teenagers signed up for Sports Bible Camp. Monday through Thursday started out with a one-hour Bible time, followed by an hour of practicing a particular skill for basketball (for the boys) and for volleyball (for the girls). Each morning then ended with some practice games that helped the players work on teamwork.
Sports Bible Camp culminated Friday afternoon with many activities. The afternoon started out with relay games for younger kids, then the championship games for both volleyball and for basketball. At the end, everyone received awards: Every player received a daily devotional in the national language and a can of Coke (for the losers) or bottle of Coke (for the winners). This year we gave basketballs and volleyballs for the person in each age group who earned the most points. Points were earned by saying verses and by doing the best overall in individual skill competitions. As a parent, we were excited that our son Luke earned the most points for his age group and received a ball. Finally, Most Valuable Players received trophies.
What a week it was of seeing God work! We know that the Gospel was clearly presented and we pray that many teenagers have put their faith in Jesus. Please pray that these who have done so would have courage to let us know and will grow in Him as they attend Youth Group and hopefully church.
We are already making plans for next year’s Sports Bible Camp and are hopeful another team from our home church in Michigan will be able to send a team over to join us.
