Nine days ago, we took our vehicle into the shop. Our hope was that just changing the transmission filter would solve the problems we were experiencing with the vehicle, and we would be able to get our vehicle within a few days. On the fourth day, we received a text to come to the auto shop to see something. Upon Stephen’s arrival to the shop, we saw that the transmission was completely removed from the car. The owner of the shop showed Stephen that the transmission cable was frayed. The mechanic said he could order us a new cable and have it “air shipped” over to our island. However, the mechanic is very hesitant to replace the cable as he has never done this before. With very little choice, Stephen asked the mechanic to order a new cable and try to replace it.

After leaving the auto shop, Stephen went directly to a place to reserve a couple of seats on a van to return to the village on Saturday. The next day, Stephen and Darryl journeyed four hours to the village, so they could fellowship with the believers on Sunday morning, participate in Kid’s Bible Club, and start a new evangelistic Bible study. Many families were invited to this new Bible study and Stephen tried to visit as many of them as possible on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday morning, Stephen awoke to thunder and rain. This was not the sound he wanted to hear as we were hoping the new Bible study would take place outside. But thankfully the rain ceased around 11am and the rest of the day was dry.
Kuya Gerry did a great job teaching Sunday morning at Church and Wenjean also did a great job teaching the kids at Kid’s Bible Club in the afternoon. Then as the sun was going down, 13 adults and several kids gathered together in our yard for the new Bible study. Most of these adults were believers and it was encouraging to see their desire to support this new Bible study.

On Monday, Stephen and Darryl returned to the city to join the family again. And this morning, Stephen went to the auto shop to see what the progress was on the vehicle. Nothing! The cable hasn’t arrived yet.
So please pray:
- More villagers will join this new Bible study this Sunday.
- That the vehicle will soon be fixed and that it won’t cost us a lot;
- Wisdom for the mechanic to do the work correctly;
- Guidance if we need to start looking for a new vehicle;
- Safety for Stephen as he once again returns to the village for the weekend.
- We are trying to take advantage of this extended time in the capital city to work on the process of transferring the land title. Please continue to pray that this would be completed soon.
Thank you very much for your prayers and words of encouragement.
