Broken Down

October 7, 2018 by Stephen and Ginger Jordan

We came to the capital city earlier this week to accomplish several goals, including shopping for supplies for home and ministry, visiting the dentist, and putting our car into the shop.  The first news of the week was that the parts that had been ordered to repair the car had not arrived.  We proceeded with the rest of the plans for the week.  However, on Friday, when we were driving around town and finishing our supply order, the car was not shifting.  We ended up driving to the mechanic shop and asking for their advice.  They said that it seemed to be a problem with the transmission, but they would be unable to help because they are not trained in fixing automatic transmissions since most vehicles on this island are manual transmission.  They said that we needed to ship our car to Manila for repair.  This would be very costly.

Before we do anything like that, we want to look around town and see if there is a shop or mechanic on this island who is able to fix automatic transmissions and if so, get an estimate to the cost of the repairs.

Please pray with us:

  1. That we would find a mechanic who is able to give us a clear estimate of the needed repairs and the cost of fixing them.
  2. That we would have wisdom to know whether or not our vehicle is worth investing in repairs if the cost is high.
  3. That the Lord would provide finances for either the repairs or a replacement vehicle as He leads.
  4. That we would also have wisdom to know how long to stay in the capital city.

In the meantime, we had to cancel youth group, but are thankful that all the other ministry will be able to continue in our absence.  Yesterday, Stephen and Abigail made a day-trip to the village, using paid transportation, to pick up all our school books so we can continue moving forward with school away from home.  If we need to remain in town for more than one week, Stephen plans on making weekend trips into the village to be with the church family on Sundays and teach the new evangelistic Bible study which is scheduled to begin this coming Sunday.

Thank you so much for praying with us.
