In the midst of such a disaster that took place last Friday by typhoon Odette (Rei), a believer in our village just wrote these words, “We still praise God no matter what happened.” Totally amazing, don’t you think so? Another believer wrote us and said, “We are not weak but strong . . . we give thanks to the everlasting God.” This last statement is from a believer who lost her home and probably most of her earthly belongings.
The church building was a place of refuge for many during the storm. And now it is a place of shelter for several families in the village who lost their homes, both believers and unbelievers.
At the church, there are banners that survived the storm. On one banner is the verse John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” On another banner is 1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” May those who sleep under these banners not just read these words, but truly see their need for Jesus as their Savior.
Please continue to pray for those in the village and those throughout the Philippines who are still struggling. We hear that clean-up and restoring of power will take up to 6 months.
