BIG Problem — The Tagbanwa Church is Growing!

August 26, 2018 by Jody and Barbara Crain

God continues to do amazing things in and through the Tagbanwa Church! God is building His Church among the Tagbanwas of Palawan and this growth has created a wonderful problem!

In 1975, S.I.L. translators, Peter & Chris Green moved into Tagbanwa Land and began studying language & culture. Chris, a nurse, soon established medical and literacy programs. She also trained local Tagbanwas to facilitate each of those programs during the times she was not physically present in the area.

Vernon & Casiana Danglong became Peter and Chris’ language helpers and soon life-long friends. Vernon also became the Greens’ primary mother-tongue translator. In the last few years he has worked on his own to translate the remaining 60% of the Old Testament Scriptures! He is also eager to begin revising the New Testament and the previous 40% of the Old Testament.

In 1992, the Tagbanwa New Testament and 40% of the Old Testament was printed and distribution to the Tagbanwa Churches began. Then three years later, the Greens produced a Tagbanwa song book with 190 hymns and choruses, that also included sections of the book of Psalms.

Now that God’s Word was clear in the Tagbanwa heart language and the hands of the people, the Gospel began to spread from village to village throughout the tribe. The Lord raised up many Bible teachers and then missionaries to go.

Today, there are churches at one level of development or another in 32 villages throughout the Tagbanwa Tribe, BUT, The Tagbanwa Bible is now out of print! Hundreds of new believers are without a Bible! Just $17.30 will provide a Bible for one of your brothers or sisters in Christ. Will you please pray for God’s provision for the reprinting and shipping of 1,200 Tagbanwa Bibles?

If you would like to invest in the discipling of Tagbanwa people through provision of bibles Go here for online giving.

If you are in the Phlippines and would like to contribute, here are the directions for giving.
