The disciple Peter asked Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life…” David and Michelle desire to see people reached with those words of eternal life through Christ. Originally they planned and trained to serve through Bible translation, Bible teaching and literacy. God’s plan differed and He used circumstances to change their roles within the church planting team. They served as part of the church planting team in Papua New Guinea for 13 years and now serve at NTM USA’s headquarters in Florida.
David’s passions include working with people, putting resources into their hands to help them represent God’s great work in PNG and around the world, and seeing others become involved in God’s work. In his current role in communications, he is able to use his background in photography, video and computers to accomplish these things. During his time in PNG David served in communications and other areas of the church planting team including orientation, computer services, shipping, supply buying, and yearbook advisor. Those years of experience and knowledge of PNG are now proving invaluable to the communications team. He is privileged to tell the stories of what God is doing around the world. This helps to mobilize believers to join in God’s work through praying, sending and going.
Michelle invests most of her day homeschooling their six children. In PNG she served as center hostess (helping new families get settled in their homes), school sports coach and library aide. Later she assisted homeschooling families by answering their questions, sharing from her experience, and pointing them toward materials that will best meet their specific needs.
Timothy, Rebekah, Emily, Caleb, Sarah and Nathanael have spent the majority of their lives in Papua New Guinea, but are now feeling settled in the US, whether it be New York, Pennsylvania or Florida. If you ask them where they are from they find it difficult to give a concise answer.
