O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isaiah 25:1 (NKJV)
ARRIVAL: Our first month in the village is over! It’s hard to believe. Thank you so much for praying. Our internet worked when it was supposed to and we got it all set up with help from our IT guy in Manila. (“It helps to plug it in.”)
We didn’t see too many critters in our house when we got here. There was some termite damage that had to be repaired and thankfully that only took 2 days.
TRANSLATION WORK: After that, Lance got right to work. He was able to finish checking 1 Chronicles with his translation assistant in two weeks and has since been working on 2 Chronicles. We stopped work this week because the church leaders are away for the Higaunon church leader’s conference. This is a time around the Word of God, testimonies and reports of how God is working in the different areas. The Higaunon are ministering in over 20 villages!
TRAVEL: Tomorrow morning (Friday) we’re scheduled to fly out and head for our mission conference. Please pray for our time together. We haven’t been to one of these in eight years. We’re looking forward to good fellowship and teaching.
ADOPTION: Most of you know we’ve been invited to spend a week with our daughter and family when they pick up David. God willing, a few days after our conference we’re anticipating meeting up with them so we can meet our new grandson. We’ll book tickets when all is confirmed which will probably be within the next 24 hours. We’re just a BIT EXCITED! Please pray everything will go smoothly!
BACK TO WORK: God willing we will be back in the village sometime during the last week of June. Our co-workers are scheduled to return to the Philippines around that time and hopefully be back in the village early July. They are currently in England visiting family members they haven’t seen in many years.
ENCOURAGEMENT: We’ve had a couple of visitors over the past couple of weeks. Each of them live in other villages and are women who love the Lord. One is Marisa. Her first husband, Monsing, lost his life in 1985 while church planting in a village down river from us. Her second husband claimed to be a believer but sadly no longer makes that claim. The other is Yangga whose husband left her several years ago and is not walking with the Lord. These ladies had one thing in common in their hour long conversations with us; they love the Lord Jesus and they want everyone around them to love Him too! Please pray for these two ladies and for the Higaunon church at large as they continue to grow in their love for the Lord Jesus.
THANK YOU: We appreciate each and every one who supports this ministry through your prayers and financial partnership.
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance & Laura
