You may have noticed that you haven’t heard from us for a while. That’s because we usually only share with you about what is happening with the ministry. This summer, we have chosen to unplug from ministry and take time to plug in to our home church and soak in some great Bible teaching. We were able to help with VBS in our home church, as well as find various ways to serve throughout the weeks since we are living right next door to the church. We’ve also wanted to give the kids time to get their feet on the ground and prepare the way for them to feel more at home in the US when the time comes. Abigail and Luke were able to participate in an MK retreat, just for kids from our mission, and they found this to be a really encouraging time.
Luke and Jonathan were able to go to a week of church camp, and they made new friends and had a great time.
Abigail was able to go to an MK Transition Seminar, at Cedarville, where she was stretched and learned a lot.
And since some of these events overlapped for several days, Stephen and Ginger were able to get away for some time together, just the two of us. We haven’t had this much “alone time” since before Rebekah was born, and we really enjoyed just connecting with each other also. And then last weekend, a friend allowed us the use of their family’s house near Lake Michigan, and we were able to stay for two nights.
We wanted this time to decompress as a family, talk about our time at our various events this month, and enjoy one last weekend of down time before we start traveling. We are so thankful for all this time of resting and soaking.
Now we’re ready to start traveling and sharing with you all that the Lord has been doing in the Philippines. We continue to hear from friends in the Philippines, several times a week, and we look forward to sharing with you how the Lord is continuing to work there, even in our absence. Thank you for your prayer, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as we can!
