Seeds of Life

February 7, 2022 by Stephen and Ginger Jordan

Typhoon relief efforts in the village have continued throughout the month of January and now into February.  As of this time, every household (395 families) have received rice, canned goods, and other essentials, on four different occasions.  Four hundred meters of tarp have been shared among 63 families and almost 1,000 pieces of roofing material have been distributed among 56 families whose homes were damaged by the typhoon.

An example of the rice and supplies provided to each of the 395 families.

Families who received tarp to cover their homes or for temporary walls.

. . . the same home after receiving new roofing material.

A leader of one of the neighborhoods in the village, wrote a letter to the members of Faith Bible Church.  She said, “Big thanks for including us in the blessing you have received.”  In the eyes of this unbeliever, the believers are blessing others as they have been blessed.  This is a wonderful testimony of the believers, to help others first ahead of themselves and their own needs.  And we want to say a “Big thanks” to you who have given to help meet these needs.  You are blessing these believers as you have been blessed.  Thank you!

An excerpt of the letter.

In an effort to help the villagers move forward, vegetable seeds have also been provided.  Every family received seeds for petchay (similar to spinach) and 100 families received seeds for a variety of vegetables.  These seeds will enable them to plant small gardens on their properties.  Lord willing, these gardens will provide both food for their families and a means of income in the future.

Seeds (pumpkin, spinach, ampalaya and more) to start over.

We rejoice to hear that there were several visitors in attendance yesterday in church.  Hopefully, their presence is a symbol of a sincere desire to know the Truth.  As they hear the Word shared, please pray that the seed of God’s Word will be planted in their hearts unto salvation.  Thank you for your prayer!
