Greetings from Michigan! Yes, we arrived back safely on Wednesday night.
Even though we have only been away for five months, we have already been hit with some culture shocks and few blessings.
Culture Shock #1: The price of three sandwiches and three drinks in Los Angeles airport!
Culture Shock #2: The cold weather. To leave the Philippines at 91 degrees and to arrive into Michigan at 17 degrees!
Culture Shock #3: Going to the grocery store with a mission to only purchase two AAA batteries. Yes, do they sell just two batteries? No. You have to purchase six, eight, or twelve. But all I want is two.
Culture Shock #4: You know that the store has dried cranberries, but what aisle is it in? I think we accomplished our daily steps in walking every aisle trying to find cranberries.
Blessings #1: God’s provision of a beautiful home and vehicle, provided by our sending church.
Blessings #2: To have hamburger meat with no surprises. Over the last few months, once or twice a week, Ginger has picked through the raw hamburger meat before cooking it, removing mysteries including fat, cartilage, and plastic. Yes, I have an amazing wife.
Blessings #3: To be with Ginger’s family. This is the reason for our early return, and we hope to be a blessing to her mom and dad during this time.
Have you had a culture shock or a blessing this week? We would love to hear about it.
