Back in Africa… a quick recap

Back in Africa… a quick recap

November 23, 2013

Well, I’ve been making notes and will be more detailed later (maybe)…but for now here is a quick run-through of the events in Africa so far… Wednesday: Got here, checked in at the hotel, went to see Emmanuella Ama, went out to eat with our social worker, Ama and her foster brother, came home and […]

Worth The Wait

Worth The Wait

November 15, 2013

The journey of adopting a child from overseas is full of many ups and downs. A journey of things happening quickly and then seemingly stopping. This process has taught me a lot about how I need to be patiently waiting for God’s timing in all things. It is with great joy that I wait these […]

Good news!

Good news!

November 6, 2013

Well, the last few weeks have been a good time to sit back and say “God, You are in control and if Your plan includes us not bringing home our little girl right away, I trust You.” It was hard and yet calming at the same time. I really needed to get to this point. […]

I think we are moving in a positive direction:)

October 22, 2013

So, sometimes God doesn’t answer your requests quite like you imagine:) As you know the process has had its little ups and downs. Today… I THINK we had an up!!!! Our power of attorney was asked to come back today and we thought maybe the “administrative review” was finished and they would ask him to […]

Very soon…

Very soon…

October 8, 2013

Just an update… Our first visa interview didn’t happen, but the rescheduled visa interview happened today! It went well, however sometimes the US Embassy puts their cases on “administrative review” for a while to find out more info. They usually don’t give their reasons why. This is the case with our adoption. Friends of ours […]

Just a quick update to let you all know where our adoption process is right now. Our daughter’s visa interview with the US Embassy is on September 24th! After that if all goes well, the US Embassy will print her visa right away and we can go get her! Best case scenario is that we […]

Provisional Approval!

August 19, 2013

We found out today that as of August 12, we have provisional approval for our daughter’s immigration into the US. Basically it is the last big step before she’s home. We would expect to be able to bring her home in 1 to 2 months now! Very excited about the news. God is so good.

Happy Birthday “Baby Girl”!

Happy Birthday “Baby Girl”!

August 4, 2013

Three years ago, our family was camping on the islands of Lake Champlain here in Vermont. I remember we had some rain and were thankful for the wooden lean-to that was on our tent site. We basically set up some of the tent parts in the lean-to. We spent the weekend exploring the beaches and […]

“Stuck on Ellis Island”

“Stuck on Ellis Island”

July 23, 2013

Well, at this point, not too much has happened since our last update, however, things may be about to! I’m getting pretty antsy to get on the plane. Our daughter is still stuck on Ellis Island- metaphorically speaking. You know, that island off of NYC where immigrants used to have to spend endless weeks as […]

Waiting…

Waiting…

July 1, 2013

Many of you have wanted to know how things are going. They are going as expected. Our daughter is in Africa, we are in the U.S. and we are all waiting for the immigration process to be finished so we can go bring her home. It could take 3 more weeks, or many months if […]
