Joy in March 2011

Joy in March 2011

March 17, 2011

You can join us: every day, all day!             Because JOY doesn’t depend on our circumstances. Martha and I are reading a 90-day challenge about this joy that is ours, for the taking. (See Champagne for the Soul, by Mike Mason.) So when the new potential buyers found everything they needed in our house (wheelchair […]

First base in February 2011

February 6, 2011

No, we haven’t died on first base; we’re still safe on first; and ready to run for second. (Aren’t you glad the Coach knows if the fly ball will be caught, and when it is safe to run to second?!!)  Our meeting with the NTM leaders and Baptist Haiti Mission workers on Jan.14th went very […]

Waiting in January 2011

January 9, 2011

We have Haiti on our minds!             I will be flying to Florida on Thursday, for meetings on Friday (Jan.14) about the Bible curriculum project. Two leaders from New Tribes Mission, two leaders from Baptist Haiti Mission, the ANI Bible curriculum developer and I will be going over our mutual goals and time-lines

On the Road in December 2010

December 16, 2010

We’re sliding back to first base.             Our Coach had told us to run for second base, but then called us back. When our house was put up for sale, and a buyer signed a contract to buy within 24 hours, we felt God was asking us to pack up and get ready to go. […]

Moving out in October 2010

Moving out in October 2010

October 5, 2010

When God says “Go!” you better be ready!              We put our house up for sale on a Thursday, and by Friday evening we had signed a contract with a potential buyer – who is working on a closing date before the end of October. Actually, we would like to “leave Dodge” (like they […]

FL to Haiti per September 2010

September 10, 2010

Don’t you just love moving?               Martha and I have been awed as we watch God line up our next mission assignment. You remember from our previous memos that I started editing a Bible curriculum for grade one for the Haiti Baptist Mission last summer. And now this summer, as I led a couple more […]

God’s timing for July 2010!

July 9, 2010

Rejoicing in Heaven!   Martha’s mom, Abbie Peterson, went to be with the Lord yesterday afternoon. She had a brain-bleed stroke and was in a hospital in Chattanooga, TN for 8 days before being released to come home under hospice care this past Tuesday, July 6th.  She was only home 48 hours, with no signs […]

Translating in April 2010

Translating in April 2010

April 2, 2010

This Easter missionaries are traveling (and walking the last 2 hours) to ask the village elders for permission to return to a Glaro village where missionaries had to evacuate in 1990. Denny is translating the Book of Matthew into the Palaka language, and she's almost up to the Easter story. I will be taking a team of 16 or so volunteers from our local church to Haiti - to do relief work.

PLANNING perspectives

February 11, 2010

The earthquake hit Haiti just days after we wrote you our prayer requests last month. We had been praying about me (Theo) returning to Haiti this June, as a follow-up trip from last summer. But now we see an even greater urgency in preparing to go help...
