Last week, nine members of Jenison Bible Church arrived in the Philippines to assist us in our 5th annual Sports Bible Camp. After several days of traveling, they finally arrived in our village on Sunday morning for a time of worship and fellowship with the village church. The members of the church celebrated the arrival […]

Pre-Sports Bible Camp

May 6, 2019

Sports Bible Camp is just around the corner! This event takes 12 months to prepare and is the highlight of the year, not just for us but also for the teenagers in our village. As of today, 68 teenagers have pre-registered. This event is too big for us to host alone. The Lord has provided […]

Building up a Church

April 17, 2019

As many of you know, over the last few months we have been in the midst of constructing a new church building. This church is made of cement, rebar, and soon trusses and a roof will be installed. But we don’t just want to “build a church”. Rather, and more importantly, we want to “build […]

By Hand

March 25, 2019

Could you imagine building a church or a house with no electric tools? Each week, we have a crew of about 12 men who are laboring away at the construction of Faith Bible Church . . . by hand. By hand they have: made over 1000 hollow blocks; dug 22 “holes” for the footing of […]

Another Speed Bump

February 3, 2019

Literally, a parking lot speed bump took out our vehicle. Upon our arrival yesterday into the capital city, we pulled into a parking lot and went over a speed bump. We heard and felt a loud bang and the front right side of the vehicle slumped down. Stephen jumped out of the vehicle and took […]

Moving a House Would Be Easier

January 4, 2019

Sometimes we think moving a house is easier that getting a land title and a building permit. We were hoping our presents for Christmas would be a building permit and a land title for Faith Bible Church. Sadly, neither one was under our Christmas tree. But now it is 2019, a new year and new […]

Grandpartners

December 8, 2018

We would like to take this opportunity to finally introduce you to our new partners, Darryl and Becky, Stephen’s parents. They moved into our village this past March and are settled into being grandparents and partners in the ministry. As grandparents, they enjoy spending time with our kids, playing ping-pong and going on bike […]

Signatures

December 5, 2018

This week we are after signatures. We need signatures from our Filipino mission board on all of the permits and building plans for us to apply for a building permit for the new church building. In order to obtain these signatures, we sent all the paperwork to another island to be signed. We have heard […]

Broken Down . . . Update

October 17, 2018

Nine days ago, we took our vehicle into the shop. Our hope was that just changing the transmission filter would solve the problems we were experiencing with the vehicle, and we would be able to get our vehicle within a few days. On the fourth day, we received a text to come to the auto […]

Broken Down

October 7, 2018

We came to the capital city earlier this week to accomplish several goals, including shopping for supplies for home and ministry, visiting the dentist, and putting our car into the shop. The first news of the week was that the parts that had been ordered to repair the car had not arrived. We proceeded with […]
