We were so blessed to have two NTMPNG co-workers visit us in the village to help us to do the things we cannot do for ourselves. As a result, we have gone from living off the grid, to being plugged in to a world half a world away! Before we were just village grapevines being bypassed in an internet age.
One of our church elders joked once, “Oh, here’s the missionary, looking for money!” I know he was joking, but over the last month or so I’m becoming more convinced that’s all people hear when we call and ask to share our ministry with them. There are times when I feel envious of Paul and […]
Prayer matters. It is powerful. When we visit churches, families, and individual people to tell them about our ministry, people seem to offer prayer as the easy way out- like the real commitment to this ministry is the financial one, and if they can't manage that then then can "at least" be in prayer. There are days when this feeling sinks into my own heart as well.
This is going to be one of those truly practical posts. Right now, in Papua New Guinea, there is a team of IT people working to support the church planting efforts. The problem is that there aren’t enough workers to cover the need. Shortage of workers results in teaching materials not being completed as quickly, […]
There are very few things that any of us do in life that are done alone. God wired us to work together. From the beginning, Genesis 2:18 “It’s not good that the man should be alone” One of my favorite is in 1 Corinthians 12 Where Paul elaborates on how we all have different gifts […]
When we left our house in the village last spring, we knew that something had to be done about our power situation when we returned to the island. At the time we were running four thirty year old solar panels into two large truck batteries to supply power to our DC lights & small bed […]
Wow. We have already been home for a month and a half. For sure, it has flown by! Our last few weeks have been met with an endless supply of encouragement from guests visiting our home, mostly missionaries preparing to leave for the field or fresh off the field on home assignment like Beth & […]
After nearly fifty hours of travel through eight airports, seven airplanes, three countries, two delays and spanning over eight thousand miles we are safely back home in the United States! We were very thankful that the local airport was opened in time for our departure. If you are on our email update list, you would […]
With eight hours left until we leave for the airport, we are emotional. I think in the last ten minutes I personally have experienced excitement, nervousness and sadness all present at the same time, but at varying degrees. I keep telling myself its just another country; people travel to new places all the time. There’s […]
On Sunday evening we had the opportunity to share at New Life church on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. It was great to be able to speak to over a hundred incredible student leaders about what we are doing and the way God has worked in our lives and brought us to point […]
