At the end of March we had the first opportunity to spend Holy Week in a Korevaju village. Due to the Catholic environment in Colombia, it is a very religious week and it is necessary to abstain from food and attend to some rules that affect daily life. We were able to notice that these teachings have also reached the Korevaju church and then they comply with keeping some religious norms.
Although the most ideal is to teach knowing their language and culture, we see that they expect our help. Hans accepted the request to teach on those special days, using the help of the church’s Pastor who has a good level of Spanish to translate into Korevaju for the attendees.
Taking advantage of the opportunity and in connection with Easter, Hans taught about the spiritual death of man and the provision of the Savior.
Wilmer, the pastor of the church, worked hard at the translation, and enjoyed the teaching. He is a good servant to disciple in the Word of God.
BRAND NEW ROOM
Finally we have a place to go. Here in our finished room. When we arrived we found it occupied by a hen comfortably brooding there, so we had to evict it before setting up our things. We have only been able to bring two inflatable mattresses and the mosquito net, but it is very nice to have our own place to store our things.
This is the first time that Hans has to make a wooden window. It was a pleasant surprise for me because the window exceeded my expectations. I thought it was very pretty.
We have noticed that people like to see us do things and participate, even if it is keeping us company. Here while Hans varnishes the finished window, the friend checks the girl’s head to take advantage of the time while we chat and watch Hans work. It is very nice to see that they have no reservations for us, they live their daily lives in the calmest way, letting us see these aspects of their lives normally.
BY LIVING WITH THEM YOU GAIN
The good thing about living in the community is that we can be there, in the right place when things are being done. Here Gisella invited Liliana to learn how to cook casabe, which they make with grated yuca (cassava) and are the basis of their diet.
WE HAVE THE MOTORCYCLE
The special need for which we had asked for prayer in our previous newsletter was quickly answered by the Lord. We have already been able to go to the community twice by motorcycle.
We thank the Lord for His provision which for us is a testimony of His faithful support in this ministry.
